ARABIAN HORSE ASSOCIATION OF NEW MEXICO
PUREBRED AND HALF-ARABIAN HALTER FUTURITIES
RULES AND REGULATIONS

I.  GENERAL PROVISIONS

 A.  The Arabian Horse Association of New Mexico Purebred and Half-Arabian/Anglo Arabian Halter Futurity is a program for purebred Arabian and Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabians registered with the Arabian Horse Association ( AHA ), that are bred and owned by members of the Arabian Horse Association of New Mexico (AHANM) and nominated in the year prior to foaling.  The AHANM halter futurity is a progressive program, with horses being re-nominated annually through their three-year-old year.  Nominated horses are eligible to show as three-year-olds.  Separate classes for purebred mares, stallions and geldings will be held. Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian classes will be held for mares and geldings.  Horses being shown must pay their entries to the host show on their entry form and send to the host show’s secretary.  Futurity participants will be judged in accordance with the rules and regulations of the United States Equestrian Federation ( USEF ), Arabian Horse Division.  The Futurity Purse will be awarded to the winners of the three-year-old Futurity classes at a Class A show approved by AHANM and held in Albuquerque, New Mexico

 B.  Members whose horses participate in the AHANM Futurity Program must be in good standing as Voting or Associate Members at the time the horses are nominated, re-nominated, and shown.
Definition of good standing:  Membership renewal must have been received by the nomination/re-nomination cutoff date (Dec 31) and must have satisfied all financial obligations to AHANM and the AHANM Futurity.  Any outstanding amounts owed to the Futurity (due to insufficient funds checks, or minor shortfall due to miscalculation of fees) must be rectified within 60 days of notification by Futurity director or prior to showing in a Futurity class, whichever is earlier.  Failure to do so will result in cancellation for all horses included in that nomination/re-nomination package.

The AHANM newsletter, the JIBBAH JABBER will serve as the vehicle for providing Futurity information, nomination/renomination forms, etc., to participants.

C.  Rules may be changed, added, or deleted by majority vote of the Board of Directors of AHANM.  All attempts will be made to minimize impact of rule changes on current program participants.  Any protest or dispute should be lodged with the Futurity Director for resolution by the Futurity Committee, or, in lieu of such a committee, the Board of Directors; all decisions are final.

II.  ELIGIBILITY

A.  Original Nominations
                1.  The original nomination must be made on the dam of the foal on or before December 31 of the year prior to birth.  Nominations, accompanied by a fee of $20.00 per mare, plus a $2.50 processing fee ($22.50 total per nominated mare), must be paid to the AHANM Futurity no later than the Closing Date (postmarked on or before December 31). Late nominations will not be accepted.

                 2.  Nominations should be made on an Official AHANM Futurity nomination Form (provided in the Jibbah Jabber) or a copy thereof.  The names and registration numbers of the sire and dam and year of birth of the foal must be provided.

                 3.  Confirmation of the nominations will be published in the JIBBAH JABBER, published on or about April 15.

                 4.  There will be absolutely no refunds after the closing date. This fee will be deducted from the purse it was originally credited to and applied to the following year’s purse.  For the purposes of  AHANM Futurity, a foal is considered a live foal if it breathes: i.e. if its lungs inflate.

                1.  Horses must be re-nominated annually prior to the December 31 closing date (or a later date as determined by the Futurity Director) to retain eligibility to participate in the Futurity. Fees are as follows:

                 3.  Confirmation of the nominations will be published in the JIBBAH JABBER, published on or about April 15.

                 4.  It is the responsibility of the participant to notify the Futurity Director of a change in address.  The AHANM Futurity will not be responsible for any delay or dispute arising through change of address.

                 5.  If fees are not paid before the Closing date/Late Closing date of each year, the nominee will be disqualified from the Futurity without recourse.  Nominees cannot requalify by paying back fees.  If a single check is used to pay nomination/renomination fees for multiple nominees and the remitted fees are inadequate to cover all nominations, the participant will have 60 days after notification by the Futurity Director to rectify the shortfall.  Failure to pay in full within the 60 days will result in cancellation for all nominees covered by the check, without recourse.

C.  Transfers

                 1.  Futurity participation is transferable with change in ownership at no charge.  Notification to the Futurity Director of the change in ownership and maintenance of active participation is the responsibility of the new owner.  If the previous owner has the Official AHANM Futurity Certificate in his possession at the time of the sale, he must provide the certificate to the new owner since the certificate will be required for renomination.
